Before this the hosts were not at their best and lost to Stuttgart 2-3 away from home but they were clear underdogs according to the betting market in this match.. On the 4th of March they took a very solid win away from home over Arminia Bielefeld 1-0. Especially Augsburg defended amazingly well in this match allowing the hosts just 0.11 in expected goals! Mainz played a rare pretty okay away match in their most recent game against Monchengladbach – it was a 1-1 draw but in an away match against Union Berlin a while ago they once again had a shaky defense and lost 1-3.
