Khimki handed themselves a lifeline in the relegation battle after striking late to see off the Urals for a 1-0 success the last time out. Khimki showed desire and energy and picked up their moment late on to snatch just their third win of the season, a reality that moves them closer to safe places. Today they will have a game away at Rubin Kazan after the international break and coach Sergey Yuran will view it as very much a chance to get another win and build up the moment. The home side has been severely weakened in recent weeks by the departure of most of their foreign players and looks like one of the weakest sides in the league on current form, which certainly gives the Khimki squad a real chance to go for it. Khimki still has some injury concerns as experienced players Mamaev and Zhirkov are battling with recent muscle injuries and need at least another week before they are available. Defensive pairing Danilkin and Filin have been missing since the restart of the campaign and doubts remain. The rest of the squad is fit and ready to play. Rubin Kazan is in big trouble, due to the situation in Ukraine many players asked to terminate contracts and the bad situation in the club can be seen in the results of the team, they lost in Moscow to CSKA with 6-1, it was a disastrous game and the result could have been much larger.
