Jamaica vs El Salvador

Jamaica host El Salvador for this North&Central America World Cup qualification round 12 clash Independence Park in Kingston. Jamaica have already lost their chances for qualifying for the World Cup, but El Salvador still technically have a chance! This will surely motivate them here. They currently have 9 points in the bank and have won a total of two matches. Jamaica have just 7 points. However, the teams are pretty equal in terms of raw class. Jamaica do not have the best fans by global standards, but the home advantage is of course there. They are the favorites here, but not by a big margin. Indeed, the clever bet for my fans and myself is without a doubt El Salvador +0.5 goals handicap with a 56% chance of winning.

Jamaica have now lost 4 matches in a row. They did not play that badly in their most recent match against Costa Rica at home despite the 0-1 loss though, but lacked, once again, offensive creativity and structure. They have a pretty limited squad in terms of truly talented offensive players, so I do not see them improving much here..  Before this were pretty much dominated in Panama losing 2-3. Panama, not a particularly strong team really, had 64% ball possession, and created much more scoring chances, completed assists and attacks. Even a more clear win for Panama would not have undeserved.. When they take more risks in an attempt to score goals, they become very vulnerable in defense. Indeed, they will have to improve their defense here if they want to win today.. El Salvador lost to Canada in their most recent match 0-2 at home in February. The ball possession was 50-50% but Canada were definitely slightly better as whole. However, the 0-2 final result does not reflect the events on the pitch. Let’s also remember that Canada are the group leaders and have not lost any matches in so far.. Before the match against Canada El Salvador defeated Honduras 2-0 away from home. I have to say that they were not at their best in the match offensively in this match, but defended well. They can improve from the latest matches and let’s hope the will not at least lose here!
