I am back with my recently favorite team to bet against- Leeds United. Last weekend they were too generously priced against Tottenham and one could even get the away team on a low 0 handicap with asian bookmakers.

As most of you know, the Spurs went on to wreck Leeds with 4 unanswered goals and thus pushed Marcelo Bielsa to the exit door. “El Loco '' resigned the following day and the club board quickly assigned a successor - Jesse Marsch.

Now, in all honesty, if it was some internal crisis manager from EPL, that usually gets such “jobs” as to save a sinking ship (Leeds, in our context) - Sam Allardyce or Nigel Pearson, for example, I would have stronger doubts over the bet. But as the role is given to an American, who’s never ever worked in the Premier League and is coming from an obvious flop at RB Leipzig - I am feeling really skeptical regarding his prospects in charge. Mainly as he is thrown into the open flame, which is literally a precise depiction of Leeds at the moment. 17 (!) conceded goals in the last 4 league games, including 0-6 and 0-4 back to back defeats in last 2 rounds.

Marsch made a name for himself in the RB system with RB Salzburg and earlier New York Red Bulls. Fluid, hyper-attacking, high-pressing football were the key elements to his success at former clubs - in Germany the approach had fallen through. While the intentions were still evident, the balance between attack and defense was never found and after losing 3 games in a row in December 2021 Marsch left Leipzig.

My point is, that the 48 year old American is unfamiliar with working in circumstances as he is going to encounter at Leeds. Bielsa basically left a wrecked ship behind and Marsch is no Jesus to pull off a wonder inside only a few training sessions (officially introduced as Leeds manager on Thursday).

A short-term morale boost that could occur is the only issue here. Otherwise, I am quite certain Leicester should take advantage of their opponents’ fundamental problems and take a home win; especially after looking so well in the midweek win over in-form Burnley on the road (2-0)
