I see here two very similar teams, both in terms of level and objectives. CD Leganés and Granada CF are not far from each other in the table, both flirting with the relegation zone but also still close enough to dream about the playoff if they can build a run. The difference for me is not so much quality, but reliability.

Granada have become a very difficult team to beat. That is the key point. Only seven defeats in 24 rounds is an excellent number in this division, and it puts them on the same level as promotion candidates like Almería, and even close to leaders such as Racing or strong contenders like Castellón who lost 6. This is not a team that collapses easily anymore. Even during their worst moments earlier in the season, they competed. Now, with confidence growing, that resistance is turning into points.

The win against Racing last week was not luck. It was probably Granada’s most complete performance of the season. Solid, concentrated, well organised, and mature. They scored, managed the game, and barely conceded chances to the league leaders, who had scored in every match before that. That tells me a lot about how much this team has grown defensively under Pacheta.

Away from home, Granada are also more comfortable than before. They won in Cádiz, they defended with order, and they are clearly understanding what these games require: patience, compactness, and waiting for moments. In Segunda División, you do not need to dominate every match. You need to survive first. Granada are doing that better than Leganés right now.

Leganés are improving, that is fair. Since Igor Oca took over, they look more competitive and Butarque has once again become an uncomfortable place for visitors. Two straight home wins without conceding show that. But at the same time, they are still a team that lives on fine margins. The defeat in Burgos was a good example: they reacted late, tied the game, and then conceded again in stoppage time. That kind of fragility still appears.

There is also a strange atmosphere around Leganés at the moment. The protest planned by the fans against the ownership could easily affect the environment, especially if things do not go their way early on. Granada arrive calmer, with less noise around them, focused only on extending their good run.

From a tactical point of view, I like Granada’s balance. The midfield with Sergio Ruiz and Rubén Alcaraz gives them control and work rate, while Pedro Alemañ adds legs and order. Out wide, José Arnaiz is in excellent form and always dangerous, especially against a defence that can be exposed in transitions. Up front, Petit still has not scored, but his presence fixes defenders and opens spaces for others.

Yes, the absence of Diallo is a weakness, but Hormigo is a natural replacement and the collective structure should protect that side. Granada are conceding very little, just one goal in the last four matches, and that consistency travels well.

Leganés will push, especially at home, and I expect a tight, physical match with few clear chances. But in that kind of game, I trust Granada more. They know how to suffer, they know how to compete, and right now they are mentally strong after beating the leader and getting out of the relegation spots.

For me, this is a classic Segunda División away spot where not losing is already a strong position. Given how hard Granada are to beat, their current momentum, and the equality between both sides, I see them very capable of coming out of Butarque with something in their pocket.
