Senegal is coming into this match knowing that in the previous two AFCON tournaments they have failed to advance to the round of 1/4 finals, meaning they were stopped at this point last two attempts. Although they did not look very good in the current tournament so far, the Senegalese players are the only team in the tournament that did not concede a goal! Mostly thanks to the excellent defense made up of Abdou Diallo, Napoli player Kalidou Koulibaliy and Chelsea's fantastic goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. This nation have some other great names that will hope for a great trophy of AFCON. Paris Saint Germain Idrissa Gueye has been decent in his two matches at the tournament and so is expected from midfielder to handle job at the center of the park. Sadio Mane, a Liverpool player who has scored the only goal for Senegal so far, should lead the attacking line once again, with Keita Balde and Boulaye Dia giving support on flanks.

The performance was poor in the group stage for Senegal and who knows how they would make it here if there wasn't the penalty whistled in their first game of the group and the win of 1-0. Cape Verde's side did above expected and found themselves as the best 3rd placed team and earned a place in 1/8 but Senegal will be too much for Verdins.

Predicting Senegal to raise up the performance level and that should be enough to win over Cape Verde, who was decent so far but now, the "serious" phase of the tournament begins and Senegal big names should step up and lead the team in next stage. Senegal to win 2-0 or 2-1 is my prediction.
