Haka are still searching for their first league points under the new coaching staff led by Kari Martonen. Their expected 2–3 loss against KuPS two rounds ago was followed by a 1–2 defeat away at FF Jaro. However, in Pietarsaari Haka’s performance was at least on par with the home side, and the defeat was undeserved in light of the match events. The remaining fixtures of the regular season are challenging, and it would be no surprise if Haka were to slip even deeper into the relegation zone.

Will Haka be relegated again? They have been really poor!

HJK gained a boost in confidence after capitalising on their numerical advantage in a 5–1 home win against Ilves. Still, the performance itself was not particularly strong, as before the sending off, Ilves had largely controlled the flow of the game. HJK have been trying to strengthen their squad with several foreign signings, the latest being Yukiyoshi Karashima, who adds a more defensive player profile to the team’s central axis. Personally, I see this is as a strange signing, but perhaps they know what they are doing? Winning Ilves keeps HJK in the title run as there will be another round between the top-6 teams, but all matches are must wins from now. The self-confidence at least got a boost!

The gap in playing quality between the sides is so significant that Haka’s slim chances rest on finding a balance between a solid low defensive block and quick positive transitions. HJK’s performances against deep-lying defences have not been dazzling, but the quality gap will likely materialise in favour of the visitors with more than a 65% probability.
