FC Porto VS Vitoria Guimaraes

Porto is coming of a really bad season, however, hopes arrived in Porto this season with a huge 90M investment on new players and coaches and I think Coach Farioli will be the key here, I consider him a really good coach who made a tremendous job at Ajax but because of the end of the season he decided to leave by himself because Ajax wanted him to stay but for Porto that was the best it could happen and now I think they have finally a good coach and the pre-season showed some promise especially their last game where they beat Atletico Madrid by 1:0 but it was a total domination by them. The Coach is good and they got amazing players too, Froholdt seems legit elite player for his age, Veiga, Costa, Sainz, Perez, Bednarek, Prpic and De Jong are legit upgrades from the last season and also Porto cleaned their house and got out some poor players from the squad, overall, Porto had a really good off-season.

Guimaraes is usually one of the best teams in Portugal after the Top 3 and Braga, usually they are the 5th best club in Portugal and this season they are trying something new, the got a really new coach in Luis Pinto who is coming from the lower league, a couple years ago he was at Fafe and last season he was at Tondela where he became Champion of the 2nd Portuguese League and that got him this spot, to be fair, I like him has a Coach but coaching already such a big club like Guimaraes and with the pressure he will feel there because Guimaraes is a tough spot for coaches things will not be easy for him I think and even they lost some players from last season they invested all the money on new players but their pre-season games were kinda poor, yes, a lot of wins but agains lower competition and against the stronger teams I saw some flaws that Porto can take advantage off for sure.

Like I said, spirits are high at Porto this season, I think they have something this season to fight for the title with Sporting and Benfica and the stadium will be full for this game, this game should have played Sunday but because a Porto Legend Jorge Costa died they moved the game to Monday and I think that with the support of the supporters and them trying to win the game for their legend I see a good edge here for them but mostly because from what I saw against Atletico Madrid, a complety different team from last season, great intensity, great pressure and most important a lot of more quality on the field and much better football and on Guimaraes side their friendly games didn't convinced me at all, I think this is a good game for Porto to start their season at home and get the very important win here and built confidence for the rest of the season and maintain their spirits high.
