FF JARO – HAKA

FF Jaro’s situation looks brighter in many ways compared to about a month ago. Although the recent 1-0 away win against AC Oulu was clearly against the flow of the game, the chaotic performance was at least partly explained by lineup problems. The most significant factor improving Jaro’s chances of success is the return of Manasse Kusu for the rest of the season. Additionally, Kerfala Cissoko and Jim Myrevik return to the lineup after serving suspensions.

Haka’s situation is the opposite compared to the Pietarsaari team. Kari Martonen, who replaced the fired head coach Andy Smith, made his debut as head coach in an away game against KuPS, ending in a deserved 2-3 loss, and fixing the sharply declining performances does not seem an easy task.

Betting. I estimate Jaro to start the match as a clear favourite, helped by home advantage. The most interesting betting angle lies in the total number of goals. Although Kusu’s return to the hosts’ lineup and Martonen’s responsibility for Haka argue for tighter defensive play by both teams, my view differs clearly from the market. There will be goals!

KTP - KuPS

KTP suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat against SJK in the last round, although they had their moments, especially in the first half. The Kotka team’s performances have improved with the new signings, but the overall quality of play still needs to be raised to maintain their league position.

KuPS managed to steal a 2-1 victory on Wednesday in the first leg of the Europa League third qualifying round against Latvian team RFS. Also, the home match against Haka between the European matches was won 3-2 despite a wide rotation of the lineup.

Betting. KTP has recently been at its best in front of the home crowd, but a significant quality gap makes KuPS the clear favorite with around a 55% chance despite their heavy rotation. The expected number of goals for the match rises slightly above three with the expected lineup information.

IFK MARIEHAMN – GNISTAN

IFK Mariehamn once again managed to scrape a point against the flow of play, coming back to a 1-1 draw in injury time away at VPS. According to the course of the game, IFK was the weaker side and wouldn’t have deserved a point.

On the other hand, Gnistan performed significantly better than expected in the away game against Ilves, forcing the superior team to a 2-2 draw. The team from "Kipinä" - the Spark - must manage on the island without suspended players Bashkirov and Europaeus, but has regained Vertti Hänninen from injury and will soon also have Roman Eremenko available.

Betting. I estimate the difference in basic level to be enough to justify Gnistan as about a 53% favorite despite the suspensions.
