Coach Mikko Hallikainen’s JIPPO currently sits sixth in the Ykkösliiga standings, having scraped together 16 points from 15 matches with a record of 3-7-5 and a goal difference of 19-21. Helsinki-based sides PK-35 and Klubi 04 have edged five points ahead of the Joensuu club. Meanwhile, JäPS lurks just one point behind in seventh place.

Most recently, JIPPO went a third consecutive match without a win, drawing 1-1 for the second game in a row — this time away to Klubi 04 at Bolt Arena last Sunday.

The visitors from Joensuu led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal from Maximus Tainio. Emil Ingman equalized for Klubi just before the hour mark. JIPPO defender Niklas Haataja received a second yellow card in the 78th minute and was sent off, meaning he will miss this match against EIF. However, in my papers he is not an important figure.

JIPPO (3-4-3) is likely to start with the following lineup against EIF:

Third-placed EIF, coached by Christian Sund, extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a second consecutive victory, defeating SJK Akatemia 3-1 at Tammisaari Central Field on Sunday. It was EIF’s fourth win in their last six matches. Good run for EIF and the coach Sund, who in my opinion is a poor manager, and more afraid of losing than eager to win games.

In addition to Nasiru Mohammed, who scored his third goal in four games, Santeri Stenius and Salomo Ojala also found the net for EIF — Ojala now on a three-game scoring streak with four goals in that span. SJK Akatemia’s lone goal came from Onni Hänninen.

EIF has collected 30 points from 15 games with a 9-3-3 record and a goal tally of 31-18. League leaders FC Lahti and TPS have pulled five and six points ahead of the Tammisaari side, respectively.

EIF’s potential starting lineup (4-3-3):

Linnas; Daoussi, Leksell, Kaleba, Forström; Karlsson, Pietsalo, Abu; Sid (C), Ojala, Mohammed.

Over the past four years, this duo has faced each other three times. Each side has won once at home, and earlier this season they drew 1-1 in Tammisaari. It was a match that I was witnessing live from the stands, and JIPPO did kill the match very efficiently and should have won!

Given EIF’s current form, it’s unlikely that JIPPO will defeat them — even at home — but a draw is not out of reach. On paper, the visitors from Tammisaari are the stronger side, but JIPPO might be able to grind out a point on the artificial turf of Mehtimäki.

There is another twitch coming in the idea of opposing EIF, it is a cabinet decision which is not yet made, but very probably they will b denied promotion even in the case they would win this league, and later this season it might be information worth gold!
