It’s not often that a semi-final in the Club World Cup feels like a Champions League final, but this one really does. PSG and Real Madrid meet in New York with everything on the line — not only a place in the final, but a moment to prove which project is more solid right now. Luis Enrique’s PSG is playing like a real machine this season, and Real Madrid, even if unbeaten under Xabi Alonso, still look like a team in the making. It's still too soon for them.

In spite of their strange loss to Botafogo in the group stage, PSG have been almost perfect. They destroyed Inter Miami, didn’t give Atletico Madrid a chance, and handled Bayern Munich even when they finished with nine men. That game said a lot. They weren’t afraid to defend deep, but still managed to score again and control the end of the match. Without Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez, both suspended, it won’t be easy at the back, but this PSG looks ready for everything. Beraldo should come in and the system stays the same.

Midfield is one of PSG’s biggest strengths. Vitinha is playing at his best level, Fabian Ruiz is calm and intelligent, and Joao Neves brings good intensity. They completely shut down Bayern, and will now try to do the same to a Real midfield that’s still not fully balanced. Bellingham isn’t in his best form, Tchouaméni is not always sharp on the ball, and Güler is still very young. Madrid want to press high, but they don’t do it with full coordination yet. And if you get it wrong against this PSG side, they can break through quickly.

In attack, there are more reasons to believe in PSG. Kvaratskhelia is dangerous on the left, and Dembele should start after scoring from the bench last time. He hasn’t scored against Madrid in his career, but he’s finally consistent and looks confident. In the centre, Desire Doue might keep his place — and this kid is on fire. He’s aggressive, clever with the ball, and doesn’t stop pressing. If PSG press well from the front, Real Madrid will suffer to build up.

Madrid have quality of course. Gonzalo Garcia has been excellent, scoring four goals already, and Mbappé is now back and might start, leaving Gonzalo (tournament's topscorer) on the bench. PSG know Mbappé well, and even if he scored against Dortmund, it doesn’t change the fact that PSG are more structured and better as a group right now. He never scored against PSG when he played for Monaco, and now he’ll face them again in a very different context.

The biggest problem for Madrid is the red card of Dean Huijsen. His absence is massive. He has been key in bringing calm and structure to their defensive line, and without him, the level of this Madrid drops a lot. Rüdiger now has to take more responsibility, and he’ll likely be paired with Raul Asencio, who hasn’t played much and was sent off early in the group stage. With full-backs like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fran Garcia who like to attack, Madrid could really struggle to control wide spaces — especially against players like Dembele and Kvara in full flow.

Madrid will try to grow into the game like they always do, but PSG are already at a higher level in terms of team chemistry and control. They press well, they recover fast, and when the chance comes, they don’t miss. Luis Enrique has built a team with balance, intensity, and also star quality. Madrid might become great under Xabi Alonso — but right now, PSG are better. And they know it.
