Varberg welcome Utsikten for this Superettan round 14 battle at Paskbergsvallen in Varberg very early Saturday morning. This is the second tier of Swedish football. However, the level of this league is not by European standards - for a second tier, I mean. Football fans and us serious bettors can expect a game of slightly better than average quality by the Superettan standards. Most importantly, we have another very lucrative betting opportunity here! Varberg have performed slightly better than I would have expected in my preseason analysis. Indeed, they are in 4th place at the moment. They have grabbed a fine 24 points -just two points behind the current leaders, Kalmar. They seem to be in the fight for promotion to Allsvenskan for next season. However, a top-2 finish (direct promotion) would be somewhat surprising.  Varberg have scored 23 goals and have allowed only 13 goals. At home Varberg have been impressive in this league - taking five wins and one draw in the six games in front of their fans! Varberg's score difference in these matches is awesome - 12:3 to be precise. The odds on the home win are a bit worse than I would have hoped for so we will place a bet on Varberg!

Utsikten have been a slight disappoinent so far - and are only in 11th place in the standings - with only 16 points in their pocket. Their score difference is somewhat mediocre - 24:22. However, their number of expected goals (xG) is a little smaller and their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) per game is high -  2.23! Indeed, their defensive structure is not great and silly individual mistakes have been somewhat common.. I expect the hosts to put big pressure on the Utsikten defence right from the kickoff.  They have won only three games in the Superettan this season. In their last match Varberg lost to Oddevold 1-2 away from home but the final score was misleading! Indeed, Varberg recorded 1o more total shots than the hosts and also had more shots on goal and corner kicks. Before this they faced Vasteras - a team that played in the first tier last season - taking a 1-0 home win! Utsikten have not lost a game for a while but have won only two of their last nine matches! In their last match they beat Östersund 1-0 at home but the visitors had 54% ball possession and they also recorded more total shots (16-12) and nine more corner kicks. Utsikten did have more shots on target though. Before this they faced Trelleborg on the road and it was a 1-1 draw after a somewhat balanced battle.
