IFK Mariehamn VS KuPS

IFK Mariehamn and KuPS lock horns in this Veikkausliiga battle at Wiklöf Holding Arena in Mariehamn late Wednesday evening Beijing time. The hosts have played 11 games, some teams have played 10  - KuPS and SJK have played 12 matches. This is the first tier of Finland but the level of this league is, as many of my fans probably know by now, low by European standards. Football fans and us serious football bettors can expect a game of somewhat mediocre level by this league's standards here. Most importantly, we have another very promising betting opportunity here! We have won four of the last five and 12/15 last picks betting on Veikkausliiga! KuPS are the reigning champions but I would be a little surprised if they were to win the championship again - unless they buy many high-quality players in the summer window - drop out from UEFA's international club competitions sooner than expected.. They are in first place with 23 at the moment but by winning their next game Ilves, Inter and HJK can topple KuPS. KuPS have scored only 16 goals and have conceded 12 goals in this league. Their number of expected goals (xG) is a bit bigger though but their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is higher as well.. 

KuPS started the season well results-wise (6 wins and one draw) but also had some luck on their side in many of these seven matches. However, they have failed to win any of their last four Veikkausliiga matches! Moreover, they have failed to score a single goal in these four games. KuPS lost three of these four games. They are definitely in decline, more steep than the bookies seem to understand.. Yes, they easily defeated a few very bad lower league (mainly) amateur teams in the Suomen Cup (Finnish Cup) but I will not give these events a lot of emphasis-. Yes, KuPS are, of course, the better team here but they have a long journey from Kuopio to the Åland (islands) located between Finland and Sweden. The odds of around 1.55 on the away win are much too low!  Indeed, we will take the MIFK +1.5 goals handicap option. In their last match they lost to Ilves 0-3 at home - after a terrible performance. They failed to record a single big scoring chance. Ilves' number was five. The visitors generated 2.78 in xG  - KuPS' number was only 0.52. MIFK are, in all honesty, not a strong team but have still been better than I would have expected in my in-depth preseason analysis. They are in 9th place with a decent 11 points in their pocket. They have netted the ball 12 times and have conceded 25 goals. However, their number xG is 15.01 and xGA is "only" 23.02. They have lost two of their last four matches - but only one of these four games by a margin of more than one goal. In their last game they lost to VPS 1-5 at home. No it was not a good performance - MIFK were strangely imbalanced on the pitch.. However, as a professional football bettor,  I will not overreact to this result!  The final score is hugely misleading! MIFK recorded seven more total shots and corner kicks. The xG numbers were "only" 0.67-1.75. Yes, MIFK are a bit erratic team but on a good day they can perform well, like they did some weeks ago, taking a point from the still undefeated Inter at home - through a 2-2 draw..
