Inter and Barcelona lock horns in this UEFA Champions League semi-final 2nd leg clash at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) in Milan early Wednesday morning Beijing time. This is the best of UEFA's three international club competitions. Football fans and us serious bettors can expect a game of world-class quality here. Inter are an Italian team, Barcelona come from Spain. Inter are in 2nd place in the Italian Serie A – the 4th-best league on the planet. They have a strong 74 points to their account. They have netted the ball 73 times and have conceded 33 goals – eight more than the current leaders, Napoli. Inter's number of expected goals (xG) is 69.34 and number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is 37.44. In the league stage they finished in 4th place with 19 points in their pocket. They scored only 11 goals in eight games but also allowed only one goal. However, their number of xGA was, rather unsurprisingly, much bigger... Barcelona are playing a very strong season in the Spanish La Liga, the 2nd-best league in the world! They have an impressive 79 points to their account, four more than Real Madrid. “Los Blancos” were clear favourites to win the league before the season started but Barca have been clearly the best team in La Liga so far! They are, in my opinion, the best/club team in the world at the moment!  They have netted the ball a whopping 91 times, a staggering 22 more than Real Madrid! No, the Barca defence is not rock-solid, mainly because of their very offensive style of play but they have still conceded only 33 goals – the same number as Real have allowed. In the league stage they performed brilliantly, finishing in 2nd place, behind Liverpool, the new champions of England.

Let's remember that according to Transfermarkt.com, a well-known and respected source, Barcelona are the bigger team here – by a significant margin. Indeed, their players have an estimated total market value of a mind-blowing 1020 million euros – which is, as they are a pretty young team full of talent, more or less correct.. The Inter squad is valued at around 664 million which is, in my expert opinion, significantly too high.. Some 470 million would be a more realistic number.. In Barcelona a week ago it was a 3-3 draw after a great, entertaining game! Inter, as expected, mainly relied on counter attacks. Indeed, Barca had a huge 72% ball possession and recorded 12 more total shots (19-7), shots on goal (9-3) and corner kicks – 7-2 to be precise. They also generated 0.67 more in xG. They were not quite at their best, especially early in the 1st half when Inter took a 2.0 lead but should still have won the game.. At home Inter will surely want – and try – to be more active than in the 1st leg but I believe this will not benefit them.. Beating Barca in an open “shooting contest” is very hard.. Indeed, they have an edge over Inter in all areas of the game, especially in terms of offensive power.. The current odds of around 2.50 on the Barca win are undoubtedly too high. We will take the safer +0.5 goals handicap though. Inter have been in surprisingly poor form recently, winning only one of their last six games, losing 3/6! This win came in their last game, at home over Verona, a pretty poor team, Inter were heavy favourites in this game but won only 1-0. They did not impress me as a whole. They recorded only three more total shots than Verona and just one more shot on target and big scoring chances.. Before the draw Barca Inter were priced around 1.75 to beat AS Roma at home but lost 0-1. The visitors recorded many more total shots, shots on goal (7-2) and big scoring chances – 5-1. Roma also generated 0.77 more in xG! Roma played well but Inter were still disappointing! Before this they lost to AC Milan 0-3 at home in the Coppa Italia (Italian Cup). The final score does flatter the visitors but Inter were still lame as a whole. Barca have lost only one of their last 30 games – winning most of these matches! They have won four of their last five games. The only defeat came on the 15th of April (local time) in Germany against Dortmund. The hosts won 3-1 but Barcelona had crushed Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg.. In their last match Barcelona beat Valladolid 2-1 – despite their head coach H. Flick leaving several key players – including the young super star, Lamine Yamal, out of the starting eleven.. Barca had a 81% ball possession and recorded a huge 24 total shots – allowing the hosts only five. They also generated 1.68 more in xG than Valladolid. On the 26th of last month (local time) Barca beat Real Madrid 3-2 at a Neutral location, Estadio de La Cartuja. It was the Copa del Rey final. Barca deserved to lift the trophy as they recorded seven more total shots, as well as many more shots on goal and corner kicks. They also generated 1.02 more in xG!
