Amorim might publicly insist on competitiveness in the league, but in truth, the Premier League is all but a write-off for them at this point. United sit 13th in the table, with no realistic route to Europe through league placement. Their only chance lies in winning the Europa League, and the evidence suggests they know it.

Physically and mentally, they look vulnerable. Onana’s confidence continues to wobble after another high-profile error in France. The backline is missing key figures like Martinez and de Ligt, and the balance of the team still feels uncertain. Isak’s sharpness in the box, Murphy’s intelligence, and Barnes’ ability to stretch the play could all combine to tear a tired United apart.

United might offer moments, especially if Fernandes plays, but over 90 minutes, the difference in focus, fitness, and form will show. Everything points to a Newcastle win, and at this point in the season, they look like a side very much on the rise — something that can’t be said about the visitors.
