Really good odds for Villarreal to win here, in my opinion.

Unai Emery’s team has been going through a difficult season so far, failing to deliver a single good run of results and thus sit untypically low in the table.

However, there are a few positive vibes in their camp recently and the most significant one, of course, is their progression to the Champions League knock-out stage from a relatively difficult group. It will give them a huge confidence boost, in my opinion, something they may well carry on for a few weeks and finally start getting wins in La Liga.

Another important factor to consider is the return of key striker Gerard Moreno from injury. Villarreal is a different team with him on the pitch both quality wise and psychologically as well. Winger Danjuma is showing strong form on the left wing and with this offensive setup, I believe, the Yellow Submarine is going to be a serious force now on the domestic front.

Rayo Vallecano has been a surprise package in the Spanish top flight so far - going so well upon their first season in the league. But the quality difference between the two sides here is undeniable. Furthermore Vallecano has taken the vast majority of its points at home, while their record on the road is just 16th in the league at 1-2-5. They’ve taken only 1 (!) point from the last 4 games away from Madrid.

Villarreal is comfortably the opposite of Vallecano as they’ve mainly been successful at Estadio de la Ceramica.

Visitors are without their prolific striker Radamel Falcao (5 goals in 9 starts), which is surely a blow.

Villarreal, in turn, are close to full strength and have only Coquelin’s injury to deal with, which has 0 relevance.
