In my opinion Shrewsbury have really good chances to make at least one point in today's match up and get promotion into next round.

Situation in group is very clear-Crewe won this group with 9 points. Wigan have one point after 2 matches, Shrewsbury have three. Wolves academy finished with two points. In that case, draw for Shrewsbury is good enough to get promotion. I believe they have all required tools and much bigger motivation to do it.

Currently Shrewsbury have good streak at this stadium as they went unbeaten in last two matches here. Last time they recorded here 1:1 draw in League One match.

Wigan is leader of the table in League One and their biggest goal for this season is obviously promotion into Championship. They are extremely focused on it and that was very visible at the weekend as team doesn't looked fully involved in FA Cup home game against lower league team Solihull (match finished with draw 0:0). Wigan played with very strong line up and still weren't able to win. I see two reasons for that: lack of motivation and tiredness. Their priority is league. For many players that was 3rd match in 7 days, I expect huge rotation today especially when Wigan will play 4 matches in next 10 days and without any shadow of doubt today's match have the lowest importance. Wigan looked poor in first two matches of this competition, even not scored a single goal and I see continuation of that poor form in EFL Trophy today.

On the other hand Shrewsbury gained momentum in last weeks. They went unbeaten in last 3 matches (two wins in the process). Team is fresh as this is only fourth match for them since 23 October. I don't see too big rotation today because coach for sure don't want to lose rhythm and momentum before upcoming matches and they don't have such challenging schedule like Wigan.

Wigan have huge squad problems at the back, according to their manager Leam Richardson they have only one fit centre back at the moment, he said: "We've gone from having four fit quality centre-halves champing at the bit to now having one."

Shrewsbury scored 10 goals in last 3 matches, so they should be able to score at least one goal today against depleted Wigan defensive formation and finish the day with promotion to the next round.
