Latvian club Riga FC lost to Gibraltarian club Lincoln Red Imps in playoff of Europa Conference League. It was a close game and Riga FC missed quite a few scoring chances.

But for game between the national representatives, the story might become totally different. Half of the Latvian national players play abroad, in Ukraine, Poland, Ireland, Slovakia, etc. They have better experiences and they can thus strengthen the players from domestic clubs. The Latvian national team has beaten San Marino, Andorra and Lithuania in their recent encounter with “weak teams”.

Gibraltar’s players are mostly from the local league. Very few play abroad. They only recent victories are against San Marino and Liechtenstein, two other tiny countries.
