Opening game of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season will see Borussia Gladbach and Bayern go face to face in a really puzzling encounter. The controversy surrounding the affair is caused by two new managers, Adi Hutter at Gladbach and Julian Nagelsman at Bayern. It is indeed tough for both the bookmakers and specialist to correctly evaluate all the changes that have occured at the reigning champions camp and hence price them up without making an error.

In my opinion the given odds give too much respect towards an average looking Gladbach side.

The club’s done nothing on the market this summer except for bringing attacking midfielder Wolf from RB Leipzig system. Otherwise their roster has the same look as at the end of 2020/21 season. What’s more, leading attacking players Embolo, Marcus Thuram, Allasane Plea are either injured or not fully fit. None of them are tipped by the German resource kicker.de to start on Friday, which leaves Gladbach with aging 32 year old sniper Stindl, average winger Hermann and returnee Laszlo Benes (from Augsburg, end of loan).

Midfield is short of ever injured Denis Zakaria.

At the back regular left fullback Bensebaini is out and will be replaced by an 18-year old Joe Scally.

So overall hosts have issues in all compartments + are under a new manager Hutter. The heritage left to him from former head coach Rose could not be called as “decent”. Gladbach were a mess towards last season, failed to finish inside European Cup zone and had no proper gameplay to offer.

Things are not too bright for Nagelsmann either. But I will start from where I finished with Gladbach - in my opinion, Nagelsmann inherits a great team left for him by Hansi Flick. It is so well tuned, that all you have to do is sit down and ride, while improving certain areas. Muller, Goretzka, Sane, Gnabry and Lewandowski are all available and should start. These are all the same players that helped Bayern reign supreme for a number of seasons.

The backline does look partially damaged and unreliable as right fullback Pavard is injured (replaced by Sarr) and should have young blood Nianzou + Upamecano start together in the centre. But to conquer these issues, as I’ve said, Gladbach frontline is not looking promising either and I doubt they’ll have much to offer to challenge Nagelsmann on his Bayern debut in the Bundesliga.

I am with visitors here and find the odds relatively interesting.

对纳格尔斯曼来说，情况也不太乐观。但我将从我与格拉德巴赫结束的地方开始——在我看来，纳格尔斯曼继承了汉斯·弗里克为他留下的一支伟大的球队。他调整得非常好，他所要做的就是稳步前行，同时改善某些区域。穆勒、戈雷茨卡、萨内、格纳布里和莱万多夫斯基都可以上场。这些都是帮助拜仁在多个赛季中占据统治地位的球员。

后防确实看起来由于右后卫帕瓦德受伤（由萨尔取代），部分受损且不可靠，因此应该让年轻球员与乌帕梅卡诺一起在中路首发。但是为了克服这些问题，正如我所说的，门兴的前线看起来也不乐观，我怀疑他们在纳格尔斯曼在德甲的拜仁处子秀上有什么可以挑战的。
