Their preseason has been pretty good. Not only in results as they made good performances, played well and are unbeaten, also in the physical aspect all players looked best fit.

On the other hand, Villarreal ended the season well, but they have been a difficult team to predict. It’s true that is a hard team to beat, but also they made a lot of draws and were pretty lucky in some important games. Furthermore, they had the help of a key player who had an amazing season last year like Gerard Moreno.

Their preseason has been terrible as they were pretty unlucky. Firstly, because a lot of key players arrived later due to holidays (the ones who played the EURO with Spain) or due to the Olympic Games. But also others were infected by COVID or had to make a quarantine so lost many training and matches. The club even had to suspend several trainings and some friendly as they lost almost thee half of the team.

This means that for this match their preparation wasn’t the best. Firstly, because they couldn’t make a normal and full preseason. Secondly, because they haven’t had all the players available. That’s why they weren’t able to win a single friendly in the preseason.

For this match they will miss two key players who are starters: Dani Prejo and Chukwueze. Others like Gerard Moreno, Iborra or Alcacer aren’t at their best level because they couldn’t make the preseason completely. Some, like Iborra, did not even play a single minute in the preseason, so they have zero rhythm.

So Chelsea have definitely a better squad, with more quality and experience. But also the preparation for this match have been much better for the english side, who made a great a full preseason with all players available. Villarreal isn’t in the best conditions to play this final.

I’m expecting a tight match, but Chelsea is above Villarreal in the physical aspect but also in the quality. So this should be enough to see them winning in the regular time.
