Maritimo changed some players, they bought some and lost another ones. They bought Andre Vidigal, one of the best players of Estoril from the last season, Filipe Cardoso from SC Covilha, Diogo Mendes from Benfica B, Vitor Costa from CSA, the keeper Miguel Silva that played in Vitoria Guimaraes in 2015/2016, the centre-back Matheus Costa from Vizela and the ex-star of Braga, Bruno Xadas. They generated a lot of expectations with these transfers, but in the only official match they had, they were terrible. They lost 0-1 at home against Boavista, a team with many absences. Boavista played that game with 6 players that in the last season were playing for Boavista u23, a team that made the 7th position out of 8 places in the u23 League so we can understand how bad this was. And I add that in that game in Madeira, with had public and so Maritimo was playing with a lot of supporters and even with that they were very bad. The coach Julio Velazquez made good season in Belenenses in 2015/2016, but since he failed wherever he passed. He was sacked from Alcorcon, sacked from Udinese after 13 games, sacked from Vitoria Setubal 2 seasons ago with only 4 wins in 21 games. They will face a fantastic team coached by Carlos Carvalhal. Even with the home factor, the quality is not enought, specially in the midfield where they have Diogo Mendes who last season was playing for Benfica B and not an indisputable owner of the place, Pedro Pelagio a young player that is still trying to win his space in the team and the experienced Edgar Costa with 34 years old that is not the same player as before. In the last 2 seasons he scored 0 goals.

Sporting Braga very motivated the make a historical season as their main objective is to win the league in the near future. They have the advantage, the same that Sporting CP had the last season, that they don't have pressure to win, but that's what in the mind of all players, specially with the amazing coach they have, Carlos Carvalhal. They made a really good pre-season with amazing performances, dominating Pacos Ferreira, Marseille and Portimonense. At the moment they have only lost one important player, Ricardo Esgaio and probably can lose Al Musrati until the end of the market. They bought Fabio Martins (back from loan), Tiago Esgaio (Ricardo Esgaio's brother), Fabiano (back from loan), Paulo Olveira an amazing centre-back that already played for Sporting CP and Mario Gonzalez an amazing striker that scored 15 goals by the modest Tondela and will fight with Abel Ruiz for the striker position. I really believe that this year they will fight hardly to win the title. In their first official match against Sporting where they lost 2-1, they were playing really good until scoring the 1st goal, but then Sporting had an amazing react and Braga was over and didn't create any more chance of goal. But they were missing some important players like Iuri Medeiros (still injured), Fabio Martins (suspension and is now able), Lucas Mineiro (suspension is now back), David Carmo (still in recovery) and Francisco Moura (almost recovered). The coach Carlos Carvalhal said after the game that the team missed the talent to play between lines that Fabio Martins and Iuri have. This game will be very different, I expect a very dominant Braga in one of the biggest pitches in Portugal and so this is good for the way that Braga plays and to explore their best player and the fastest player of the league, Galeno.
