I see many people are backing Slovenia today, maybe because of a rather long list of absentees at Norway, but I still rate as a lot better team. Slovenia is not much a big team in Europe and is badly overrated here. My thoughts:

Slovenia hosts Norway on Thursday in the Nations League at Ljubljana's Stozice Stadium. There are still a couple of rounds to be played and Slovenia, Austria and Norway are each tied! This and next week, promotion to the A-League will be decided, and the qualification gets complicated.

Slovenia lost their first match away to Norway in October, so Matjaz Kek's squad should practically grab a win before the difficult away game in Austria in the last round. With a drw Slovenia could practically say goodbye to the group win, because Norway will not be dropping points at home against Kazakhstan next week.

Slovenia has pretty much the best possible roster. Benjamin Verbic hasn't been seen in the national team since September, but Benjamin Sesko and Andraz Sporar, with the support of Vikke's wingmen, are admirably able to create danger at the attacking end. The way of playing that worked in the European Championship in the summer will therefore be continued.

Norway, which last participated in the prestigious championships in 2000, is now firmly aiming for the next championships which they would fully deserve with this squad! There are enough stars, but in recent years the performance of the Scandic team has invariably been a disappointment. Even now, the pursuit of a place in the competition may depend on the actual qualifiers, because Austria crushed Ståle Solbakken's squad badly by 5-1, not sure what happened there, but Austria are good!

Norway is still missing Martin Ödegaard, who recently returned to action at Arsenal after his injury. Currently injured are, among others, Hugo Vetlesen, Oscar Bobb, Andreas Hanche-Olsen, Kristoffer Ajer, David Möller Wolfe and number one keeper Örjan Nyland. To be honest, only Ödegaard is important to this team.

Slovenia is able to keep its pack tight and aim for the draw, normally, but tonight the 1-1 draw will not do. A result seen here all too often, so risks must be taken, and they will be punished for them. I am greedy, I am looking for a bigger win here, but perhaps 0-1 is the most likely outcome.
