Scotland in terrible form - will Portugal steal the points?

.Scotland, which are still in the zero points club in the A-League, host Portugal at Hampden Park, Glasgow. If Steve Clarke's team still want to keep their place at the top level, they should already start grabbing points. Portugal were a away inPoland last week with a great game end which I also predicted in my preview, so the task is not going to be easy for the Tartan Army by any means tonight!

The Scots' have been in a sad state of affairs recently, as there is not a single win in the last nine competitive games!

Scotland has been able to continue their good attacking play and the scoring efficiency is at a good level, but the team defends uncertainly and they still get too many goals conceded. Scott McTominay has been his team's top scorer for the past year or so, the team would need a real top player. In terms of material, Scotland is at least one class weaker than Portugal. Maybe two? They are not however worth of a place in the A-league.

Cyprus are their latest win, in September last year in the European Championship qualifiers. In the Nations League, all three games have been lost by only a goal margin, so there is no need to talk about a bigger crisis. However, it is clear that Clarke's squad has its own game limitations and a lot of reliance is placed on Andy Robertson's left wing, Scott McTominay's scoring power, collective hard work ethics and special set pieces.

Angus Gunn, Greg Taylor and Lawrence Shankland are the recent injury absentees from the Scots. Notable absentees already included John McGinn and Kieran Tierney.

Portugal played a decent European Championship, although Roberto Martínez's team had also enough difficult moments.
