After 3 rounds both are midtable, but the xG tells are a story that Albacete have started rather poorly. Last round they lost away at Malaga, who took a red card at 1-1 at 39th minute! A painful loss, but partly reflects the other poor performances of Albacete so far.

I did discuss Eibar last round and picked them to win over Levante. They dominated the game and created enough chances for several goals in an entertaining attacking performance, but ended up drawing 2-2, which was also the result on the previous round away in Santander.

According to my eye test, Eibar is once more close to promotion this season, while Albacete is far away, a midtable team.

Although neither team was among the teams with the fewest goals in the series last season, especially their expected goals of 3.03 and 3.40 in the three games of the early season are wildly high compared to how low-goal a game is played in La Liga2 on average. Albacete scored 7 goals in the first three matches and Eibar's 9 in the corresponding matches. It should be noted that Albacete's goal and score balances for the entire last season do not quite match the way of play of its current coach Alberto González. After González's arrival (27.3.), in the last 11 league matches of the spring, the goal average of Albacete's matches was only 2.0 goals per game. The overall goals per game average in La Liga2 was 2.23 goals per game last season and 2.24 per game in the opening games of this season.

Of course, the sample is so limited that we should not yet care about any numbers whether it is real data or xG, but Eibar especially look like fun to follow whereas Albacete is more a defensively weak team than anything else. They lost the possession to Elche by 20-80% in the match they won, they did counter dangerously but if you never have the ball you should not be a favourite to win, and in my papers Eibar is stronger than Elche was.
