France VS Italy

Italy challenge France for this UEFA Europe Nations League League A round 1 at Parc des Princes in Paris early Saturday morning Beijing time. "Challenge" is, indeed, all I believe they are capable of here.. Indeed, France have a significant edge over Italy in all areas of the game! Even so, a match of good level by this competition's Group F2 standards is on the cards here. France are in 2nd place in the FIFA Ranking at the moment. I rate them as the 3rd-best national team – with the best possible lineup, taking into account the substitutes – in the world. They were a slight disappointment performance-wise in the EURO 2024 in the summer. The expectations were high, after the very strong performance in the EURO Qualification - and making it to the World Cup Final in Qatar in 2022. However, let's remember that France were beaten by the eventual champions of Europe, Spain, in the Playoffs 1-2. France's performance was okay as a whole. They even recorded more goal attempts, shots on goal and shots off target. They also generated more in expected goals (xG). France, too, could easily have qualified for the final. On their way to the final, France defeated Portugal and Belgium after magnificent defensive performances - without allowing a single goal! Both opponents were/are among the best teams in Europe.

Italy are in 10th place in the FIFA Ranking but this definitely is too high.15-16th would be a more accurate place for them at the moment.. Italy were not great in the (EURO 2024) Qualification Group C – grabbing only 14 points – the same number as Ukraine managed to grab.. England easily won the group. Let's remember that Ukraine failed to qualify for the Playoffs in the EURO 2024.. Italy were poor in their last match, losing to Switzerland, 0-2 in the first round of Playoffs. The Swiss generated more in xG and many more goal attempts. Italy managed only one shot on target. They were the favourites on the betting market in this match but were very disappointing – especially offensively. They are in a rebuilding phase and might do much better in 2-5 years time.  However, even a point from the game against France would be a surprise.  The French have an over 65% chance of winning. Odds of around 1.60 are widely offered by the biggest bookmakers. France's possible starting lineup: Maignan; Kounde, Saliba, Konate, T. Hernandez; Kante, Tchouameni, Zaire-Emery; Dembele, Thuram, Mbappe is full of word-class players and has no real weaknesses! I recommend my fans to watch especially Saliba, who is one of the best defenders on the planet. He plays for Arsenal in the English Premier League, clearly the best league in the world! Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid, the reigning champions of Europe) probably needs no introduction and is one of the deadliest strikers in the world. He suffered from an annoying nose injury in the EURO 2024 - which bothered him quite a lot in many games -  but should be back to his old (excellent) self by now!

In the opening round of EURO 2024 group stage Italy beat the worst team in the tournament, Albania, 2-1 and deserved to win - but failed to really impress me as a whole. Italy generated only 1.55 in xG. Italy were priced around 1.35 to win the game by the bookmakers. In round 2 Spain dominated Italy, despite winning only 1-0. Italy managed only one shot on goal - Spain, on the other hand, managed eight! Moreover, Spain had an impressive 20 goal attempts. The xG numbers were very clear in Spain's favour, 2.12-0.22 to be precise. Before losing to the Swiss, Italy played a balanced match against Croatia as favourites on the betting market. It was a 1-1 draw in the end and Italy's Zaccagni scored the 1-1 goal in the 90+8th minute.
