In the final round of the Champions League qualifiers, Malmö was eliminated from the UCL group games, but received a place in the Europa League group games as a consolation prize. In their previous game in the Allsvenskan, Malmö was a guest of Kalmar at Guldfågeln Arena and lost points in a 2-2 away draw between the Sparta games. That was a poor but understandably so, performance.
