They do, however, have big offensive firepower and have scored 30 goals in Veikkausliiga but their number of expected goals (xG) is still lower. Haka have netted the ball a decent 22 times. Ilves have allowed only one goal less than Haka. Haka play pretty pragmatic, straightforward and well-organized football under their Northern Irish head coach, A. Smith. He would earn more respect in the Finnish football media..

Let's keep in mind that Ilves have won only two of their last eight games. Haka, on the other hand, have suffered just one defeat in their last eight matches! Ilves beat the reigning champions, HJK, 3-0 at home in their last game. Yes, it was a good performance but the final score is very misleading. HJK had 51% ball possession. Both teams had seven goal attempts, HJK had many more dangerous attacks (96-64) but Ilves had one more shot on goal. They generated only a little more in xG. Ilves scored two quick goals in the 4th and 13th minutes which seemed to shock HJK.. In the second half HJK were the better team on the pitch but Roope Riski scored the 3-0 goal on a counter attack.  Yes, of course, in the 2nd half, leading 2-0, Ilves did not need to score more goals and mainly concentrated on defending.. Ilves deserved to win but this result probably affects the odds  way too much here! Ilves have played well against the top-6 teams – despite not always getting the result they would have deserved – but have struggled against lowly teams in many games.. Before beating HJK Ilves failed to beat FC. Lahti, the rock-bottom team at the moment - on the road. Ilves were priced around 1.45-1.50 but it was a 2-2 draw! Before this lame performance Ilves were priced around 1.75-1.80 to beat SJK at home but it was a 2-2 draw. Ilves had one more shot on goal than SJK in this game.

Haka, on the other hand, beat IFK Mariehamn 3-0 on the road in their last match. It was a fine performance as a whole! The bookies expected a pretty balanced game – offering both teams odds of around 2.70 to win. Before this Haka defeated KPV Kokkola 2-1 away from home in a Suomen Cup game. KPV play in Ykkönen, 3rd tier, but Haka performed well – fully deserving the win.
