As predicted in the ¼ finals, I still can’t see the reason to explain why England is favorite. They have been terrible so far, and although against Switzerland improved, playing the best first half in their tournament so far, the second half were outplayed and conceded a lot, where Saka had to score the equalizer at 80’ to force the extra time.

Several players are in bad form due to Southgate’s tactics and also because the fatigue. Kane is having a bad tournament as he is not receiving too many balls, and played much better in the periods when England played with two strikers.

In the previous game against Switzerland we saw (finally) Foden playing in a more center position, England improving with the ball and Bellingham again at a very high level. However, in this fixture they won’t have the ball too much so I expect them to make the same plan as always: wait at the back, be dominated, and wait patiently till their talented strikers find some way to score. However, their defense isn’t strong enough to execute this plan against this Netherlands team.

Their defense, although the team has been very defensive, is making many individual mistakes at the back.

Netherlands has been an offensive and funny team to see so far. Surprisingly, although they have two great CBs, the defense has been their weak point, as they have been vulnerable.

Gakpo has been one of the best players in the tournament with 3 goals and 1 assist, but also Depay was great against Turkey, and Reinders is playing very well in the midfield.

The Netherlands is a team which attacks very well but defends bad, and this could be a problem against England. However, England didn’t attack well so far, so I can see this game as a potential draw in the regular team.

I’m sure that Netherlands will dominate and have the possession here and will produce chances to score, especially with Gakpo playing between the lines and Depay playing really fast with his moves in the area.

The Netherlands played very well against the other team which was the main title contender alongside England before the tournament kick-off: France. I’d say that they even deserved to win that fixture, as they looked impressive and had a controversial goal ruled out by VAR.

England has a similar style to France: a team who feels comfortable being dominated and making counters, as they have a lot of individual quality upfront. However, France is way stronger and has been defending much better than England, so if Netherlands makes the same performance here they have chances to at least force the extra time.

England won’t be in a hurry to get the victory, as shown against Slovakia and Switzerland. They know about their quality and they don't care about extra time or penalties.
