I already predicted in the previous leg Eibar double chance (win/draw), as I mentioned that for me they were favorites to qualify to the final.

Eibar is a team who has been always involved in promotion fight, since their relegation to the second division two seasons ago. In the last two rounds they played the playoffs and lost, but have plenty of experience in these games as this will be their third playoff.

Their mistakes in previous playoffs were the second legs. In 2021/22 win 0:1 and then lost 0:2, whilst in 2022/23 drew 1:1 and lost 2:0. So they know about the importance of this fixture, the mistakes to be avoided, and surely will make a good performance.

They have a lot of quality, one of the best squads in the league and are a very strong home team, as they play in a small pitch. They have been the second best team in the league during the regular season (14/4/3) and the one with more goals scored, with 45 in 21 rounds.

Some of those goals came from their topscorer Bautista (17 goals) who is injured and out for this fixture, but have good replacements with Sergio Leon who has a lot of experience and also Stoichkov, who has scored 12 goals and gave 7 assists this season, 0 from penalty. He will be the key for Eibar in this game, as will have freedom and mobility upfront, where he feels better. Sergio Leon will be working as striker to fix the central backs and leave freedom to Stoichkov.

Furthermore, without Bautista, Eibar already beat Oviedo 4:3 in the last round. In that game Oviedo was very lucky. In 99% of cases they would have been out of the promotion, but Racing, who had 3 more points and was playing the last round against bottom and relegated team (Villarreal B) lost his game, which means that Oviedo qualified as 6th thanks to the goal average which was better than Racing. Even one point was enough for Racing, but they failed.

And although Oviedo had to win and had more motivation, they conceded 4 goals by a team who had without any motivation.

Oviedo has been a team whose target never was promotion. They are a TOP10 team, but managed to qualify to the playoffs with a lot of luck as said. They don’t have any reliable topscorer, only Borja Baston (10 goals).

Previous game was very tight and played with caution from both teams. But Eibar has much more quality, finished 3rd in the league and is a very strong home team. Oviedo is a weak traveler, 13th in the league (5/6/10) and have won less than half of the points achieved at home.

I expect this fixture to be played again with a lot of caution from both teams, but I believe that Eibar will show their experience, quality and home advantage to win this fixture and qualify to the final round.
