I have already discussed both teams a few times.

Looking the recent years results of Ilves might be misleading, as they lost a dozen of their best players after last season, two of them are wearing KuPS shirt today, Tomas and Järvinen.

The goalkeeper situation is bad at Ilves, their first choice Leislahti has been weak all season, and to be honest in my books he is not Veikkausliiga class now, and I doubt he will never be. Also the coach Wiss had finally noticed that ahead of last round's 1-1 draw away at HIFK, and he fielded a 18 yo Huuhtanen instead.

In the defense Ilves have now own youth players, captain Miettinen and new signing Katz who is another hazard always going to happen. The midfield and attack are completely new, only two midfielders remain! The latest signings to improve the situation are a trio from Columbia, but out of those only Roger Torres looks like an immediate help.

So there is a lot of doubts over Ilves class this season, which also the results confirm. The draw with HIFK is acceptable, the win over poor Oulu was expected, but against the strongly-rotated HJK side the 0-3 loss gave very worrying signs, especially considering that today's visitors KuPS are a better team than that HJK. Or perhaps even the optimal HJK, as they have now drawn twice 0-0 in short period of time, and KuPS won the FIN cup after penalties!

No real injury worries at Ilves, but there is no fixed and optimal lineup known yet even to the coach Wiss.

The visiting KuPS have won MIFK and Lahti both by 2 goals, and both are class-wise expected to fight for same positions with Ilves in midtable. In the cup in the winter KuPS also took a 0-2 away win very comfortably.

"Winning is addictive", says KuPS coach Simo Valakari, who is doing a good job in his first season at KuPS. He has SJK to a title earlier in this league, since then he was well praised in Tromsö in Norway. He concentrates well on each game with a detailed game plan, especially tailored to face the opponent.

KuPS can choose from a wide availabilty of players, and I am expecting another comfortable KuPS win here as there are so many weak lines in Ilves defensively.
