Motivation difference here.

Getafe is already in the safe zone with 38 points. A quiet position, no pressure for them, and Europe positions aren’t either a target (and are 8 points above). They hav had poor performances lately: since their last victory against Sevilla in December, they won just three league games in 12 fixtures: two of them against Granada (one above the bottom) and Celta 3:2, both very weak teams. Furthermore, the one against Celta came at 89’.

The other victory was in their last game against Girona, where they were pretty lucky as they conceded many chances, 1.73 expected goals against, and Girona deserved at least a draw.

They are a very competitive team, but are conceding much more than usual. 42 goals received so far is a high number for a team like Getafe. However, they achieved the target of avoiding relegation with many rounds of antelation, so their season is already a success.

For this fixture they’ll miss important defender Djene (national team) and their best striker Mayoral, who has been injured for a few months and will miss the rest of the season. Before the injury, he was one of the best strikers in La Liga.

On the other hand, I expect to see Sevilla much more motivated here. After their last game against Celta where they lost 1:2, they are now just 6 points above relegation, and with only 38 they’ll need around 6-8 more to avoid it.

Their season has been a disaster, because a team like Sevilla cannot be fighting for avoid relegation. They have quality, good players, and a recent history, but have had poor performances. However, with Sergio Ramos they have been more competitive and improved in defense.

Sevilla has several players who are class above, so they don’t need to make a perfect game or have too many chances to score. Their effectiveness is high, as opposed to other relegation teams, and this will make the difference.

Before that disaster game against Celta they were playing well, with only one defeat (against Real Madrid by minimum difference - 1:0) in 7 games, including strong rivals like Atletico (where won 1:0), Real Sociedad (3:2) or Osasuna (1:1).

Sevilla has more quality here, I think they’ll just be dominated tactically as Getafe has a great coach and knows very well how to execute their plan. However, I also think that Sevilla will be more motivated, because a defeat here could make things even worse and put them in a difficult situation, especially if Cadiz (main relegation competitor) wins.
