In my opinion Ehime have really good chances to at least avoid loss in today's match.

Ehime is a new squad in J2. The team was promoted from J3 after finishing first in the previous season. Most importantly, they did not lose any of their finest players, and vital players such as top scorer from the previous campaign Riki Matsuda remain in the squad.

In the previous season, Ehime looked exceptional in front of their home crowd, going unbeaten in 15 of 19 home league games. That tendency continued in the first round, as they defeated Akita convincingly, 1:0 at home. In the second round, Ehime played on the road against powerful Shimizu (one of the top candidates for promotion to J1). Despite the 0:2 loss, Ehime delivered a strong showing. Now, they returned home and wants to do well again.

Nagasaki has played poorly thus far, with only one point collected in the first two J2 matches, which is considerably below expectations. They struggled with creativity and goalscoring, scoring only one goal in two games and recording only six shots in the previous round. Nagasaki is likewise not a strong road team, failed to win in 15 of its previous 22 away league games.

I'm not sure of Nagasaki's motivation. Their main goal is to finish in the top six of the J2 league. Chances of making a deep run in this competition are slim because Iwata from J1 is waiting in the next round. There is a high likelihood of squad turnover in the guests' team.

Ehime should be able to maintain momentum.
