Ranking-wise Mariehamn is about 6-7th place, the promoted AC Oulu side are 11th-12th, so expected to return back to Ykkönen after the season.

As usual the home side has changed a lot since last season, but the coach is the same so there is some continuity. As MIFK are from Mariehamn which actually is geographically closer to Sweden’s Stockholm the Finnish mainland they have always relied a lot in Swedish personnel, and this side is no different. The coach Syberjeski is Swedish, so are several of their key players who are perhaps not on their best anymore, but still come from a better league, Allsvenskan. Abukari and Kennedy being the main star names. Young Elias Mastokangas on loan from Inter Turku is the biggest local talent.

On the first round MIFK did step up in class a lot compared to their preseason, and deservedly won strong Honka side by 0-2.

AC Oulu hosted Ilves, and lost 0-2 after a shy and weak performance.
