Mallorca is a competitive team, difficult to beat and always playing with a lot of intensity. Although this season is not their best one, I see them with potential to improve. Especially now that they have back their best striker and a key player for their attack - Vedran Muriqi, who has been injured for many months and now is ready to be starter.

Mallorca have had the whole week to prepare for this game, they will propose a defensive match and try to avoid defeat. At home they have lost only 2 games so far (12 played), 1 of them was in the first round so their balance is just one defeat in the last 11 home games.

On the other hand, for Real Sociedad this will be a very difficult game. First, because it’s only 3 days after a very important game: Champions League ⅛ finals against PSG. They played this midweek a very intense game with a lot of pace, and surely will struggle in this fixture with fatigue.

Secondly, because they are in very poor form. They are winless in the last 5 games, with two defeats in a row. Real Sociedad is struggling a lot lately to create chances and score goals, with 5 games without scoring a single goal which is shocking stat.

Furthermore, they have many injuries and doubtful players, some of them key players and starters (Traore, Oyarzabal, Tierney, Mikel Merino..) so they won’t be able to make too many rotations either. This means that they’ll play with fatigue as will use almost the same players as against PSG.

Both teams played in the Spanish Cup ½ finals a couple weeks ago, where Mallorca drew 0:0 at home making a good match in defense. The second leg will be played in 10 days.

In the previous league game, Real Sociedad won 1:0 but conceded a lot (1.67 expected goals for Mallorca), in a match where Mallorca deserved to draw.

Real Sociedad will dominate this match, but I don’t see them with the pace needed to break the solid Mallorca’s defense. They would need to play fast football and be very effective upfront as they won't have too many chances, and precisely these are the two things they are lacking at the moment: pace (due to the fatigue) and effectiveness (due to their poor form upfront).

For me this match will be a draw, probably without too many goals. Mallorca has shown that they are totally able to avoid defeat here.
