BRANN - BODO GLIMT

Brann is second in the table, with only 1 point advantage with Tromso (3rd) and 3 with Viking (4th). Their last round will be against mid table Stromsgodset, who’ll play for nothing there.

Brann has been in sensational form lately. They have won 10 of their last 11 league games and moved up to second position. It has been a great year for the club, who also won a Norwegian Cup earlier in the season.

Brann has the second best home record in the division with 11 out of 14 wins. Only one team (Viking) managed to beat them at this stadium, which was in July at the beginning of the season when Brann was in a bad run. In their last 10 home games they won 9 and drew 1.

Furthermore, they have the best defense in the league with only 30 goals conceded in 28 games, while at home they have conceded only 13 in 14 games.

On the other hand, Bodo Glimt is the main reason for this pick. They are now confirmed as Eliteserien champions for the third time in four years. It has been a remarkable period of success for the team located inside the Arctic Circle.

They have won seven consecutive league games to secure this title and have been in good form. However, they have an important UEFA Conference League match vs Lugano coming up in midweek though so they might be potentially distracted, and also field a weakened team with some reserves. Key players like Pellegrino or Moumbagna (first and second topscorers of the Eliteserien) are expected to rest in order to be at 100% in the Conference League game. Alfo first choice goalkeeper Nikita Haikin is out due to an injury in the shoulder

This game is totally useless for Bodo Glimt. They have 9 points advantage with Brann and the next midweek game is much more important, so will be totally unmotivated here.

Brann already achieved a draw 2:2 at Bodo’s stadium when both teams were focused in the Eliteserien, and in a match where Brann deserved more: they were leading 0:2 till 78’ and Bodo Glimt scored the equalizer at 95’. Brann has much more motivation to win here, home support and are totally able to beat an unmotivated and B side of Bodo Glimt.

TROMSO - HAUGESUND

Tromso is third and fighting for the TOP3, which grants access to the Conference League next season. They have only 2 points advantage with Viking, and in the next round will play away against Valerenga who is 15th and could be fighting for the relegation playoff or even for the safe zone, so it will be a difficult fixture.

Tromso beat Odd BK 2-1 in the previous round, and have enjoyed a very strong season. They have generally been strong here this season winning 8 out of 14 league matches. Surprising defeats vs Aalesund and Stromsgodset here recently have been concerning though. However, have been a very solid team with the second best defense of the league, conceding just 31 goals in 28 games.

Upfront they have quality with players like Erlien, the second topscorer of the league (15 goals).

On the other hand, Haugesund are not yet safe from relegation but it’s almost done. They have 4 points advantage with Stabaek, and two with Sandefjord. Their last round will be at home against Stabaek. Curiously, this round will play Stabaek and Sandefjord, so it’s possible for Haugesund to avoid relegation even with a defeat here, depending on the result of that game between Stabaek and Sandefjord.

Starter midfielder Kevin Krygard is suspended for this fixture.

We can probably expect Haugesund to travel here with quite a defensive game plan and play for a 0-0. Haugesund are not a reliable away side though with just two wins, four draws and 8 defeats on the road in the league this season, and only 9 goals scored in 14 games.

Tromso know they must give their best in their final two league games to guarantee third position. They are the better team who should be able to beat Haugesund with home advantage. Tromso already won the previous game played this season against Haugesund (1:2).
