Another end of season case that I find appealing in the Bundesliga, after a successful take on 3 scenarios on Tuesday.

Stuttgart will be entertaining Wolfsburg, who are chasing a dream - direct qualification to the Champions League.

Hosts have nothing left to play for in the season and decline both in their performances and results right underlines this. There is no more spark about their football now that no goals are there to be reached. What used to be a highly entertaining side to watch is now more of a shadow of its’ old self. The manager is still the same, players haven’t changed, but the chemistry’s dropped a fair bit.

The club is not bothered by relegation being +13 points clear of Koln, neither are they realistically in the race for Europa League, sitting 8 points behind Bayer Leverkusen. Besides, the way Stuttgart has been playing in recent rounds suggests there are no European ambitions for them on the agenda.

Apart from Stuttgart lacking any proper motivation for the upcoming game, I am also drawn to this encounter due to the names on the casualty list for hosts. They will definitely miss a number of key player, such as one of the season’s revelations Wamanguituka (highest rated Stuttgart player according to Whoscored with 11 goals and 4 assist) + influential Argentinean playmaker Gonzalez (tipped to miss the game by German resource kicker.de) and regular defender Mavropanos.

My relationship with Wolfsburg this season hasn’t been good. Whenever I picked them to win, they’d collapse and that defeat would be standing out there as they would go on to win the following 6/7 games or remain unbeaten for 2 months.

They’ve had a rough couple of weeks with back to back defeats against Eintracht (3-4) and Bayern (2-3), conceding untypically many goals. Scorelines aside, though, it’s hard to call those results surprising. Bayern remains Bayern, while Eintracht on home soil s a force for any Bundesliga team these days.

Before the match of the year on Saturday (face off against Borussia), Wolfsburg will be looking to get their confidence back and maintain the +5 pts cushion over Dortmund, who is most likely taking a win against Union Berlin in their game.

I am counting on the motivational difference, Stuttgart’s poor form and their injury hit attack to give Wolfsburg the necessary edge for 3 points. -0.5 handicap is bold and you might want to look for something safer like -0.25 on Asian markets. If anything, I definitely can’t see Wolfsburg losing in Stuttgart.
