At the moment, they are the second-placed team in the table, behind Monaco. Bear in mind that in the previous season they finished in 14th place. This is a promising start for them to achieve a better ranking in the current season. They also possess one of the best defensive records in the division, with only Marseille and Nice conceding fewer goals this term. But, they are set to face a Lyon side, who by their pedigree are not meeting expectations, and Brest are set to meet a team desperate for results. I expect them to be backed to a corner here.

Secondly. Lyon could not have dreamed of a worse start to the 2023-24 campaign as they find themselves third from bottom in the table with five matches in the books, having recorded two draws and three losses to remain winless this season. In fact, they have made their worst start to a Ligue 1 campaign in 57 years, taking a solitary point from their opening four games, with the 4-1 home defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier leading to the sacking of manager Laurent Blanc. With the new manager lined up to lead his first game in Ligue 1, I expect the players to turn up like they did in their previous match, where they racked up 23 shots while preventing their visitors from registering a solitary attempt on target, but to this time around convert their chances.
