After a wicked plot twist in Italy with Fiorentina collapsing to a loss from nowhere, I hope for better luck in France, where one of the clearest games will be held in Dijon.

Every season Ligue1 gets a hopeless outsider, who gets beaten on weekly basis. After Tolouse the marathon stick has been passed to Dijon. They have already beaten the competition record for most consecutive defeats and are sitting rock bottom of Ligue1 table with no prospects of getting saved.

I’ve watched most of their recent games and there is indeed not much heart left in the squad. They usually put up a fight until the 1st conceded goal, as most relegation material teams, and the on 0-1 just collapse and throw the towel in.

Empty stands are of no help in this situation to Dijon as they struggle to get the extra bit of energy or positive vibes to keep fighting for points.

If Nice had motivation left in Ligue their odds would be lower than they currently are. I was personally expecting to see a -1 handicap, so the current 1.8 for away win is a surprisingly high and generous offer. It has a lot to do with Nice being left with nothing to play for. However, my main hope here is that youth spirit conquers all. There are so many talented boys in this Nice team, who have enough individual motivation to leave a mark in the competition. 23 year old Danish striker Kasper Dolberg, for instance, has just recently joined his teammates after a lengthy injury absence and he is 120% motivated for every game. 21-year old talent Gouiri has little concern over lack of tournament goals for Nice - he is their leading striker (12 goals) and top playmaker (6 assists). Lotomba (22), Thuram (20), Saliba (20) and Todibo (21). All these guys are definitely hungry for wins on the pitch and with the form they’ve been showing in recent weeks, I am certain, they can stretch Dijon losing streak to 13 in a row.

It also helps that a draw does not work for Dijon as they must win every single game now - this puts extra pressure on the home team and guarantees high risk defending. A perfect storm for the young and quick Nice team.
