HJK won their dress rehearsal game in the local league by 1-3 away at Oulu, and lead the table ahead of the last round of regular season by 1 point. On the last round they will decide who wins it in the last match v KuPS, so the stakes are high also locally.

The Oulu match was relatively easy, as they had fired coach recently, and also missed several key players in the defense, nevertheless it was a good performance by HJK and a needed self-conficence boost, and HJK form in local league is excellent. HJK changed their own coach weeks ago, and it is getting better all the time, match after match. In fact the likely new coach for HJK next season is actually the forementioned Oulu coach Ricardo Duarte.

HJK were able to rotate, and also had the already familiar feature of making a lot of subs either at halftime or at 60th minute. There are fresh legs and often another strategy as well, and HJK are hard to beat and follow when they do that. It is like two games in one!

There is a positive atmosphere and good competition within the HJK squad, there are no major injury worries anymore, and even if HJK lost the first leg by 2-1 as well as most underlying performance stats they feel confident that they can - and will - win at home on their artificial ground with a full stadion support. Also we can not forget the impact of the new keeper Niki Mäenpää who has great experience from better leagues, and who just returned home to Helsinki in the last transfer window.

As there is no more the away goal rule there is a bigger chance for extra time in the games, and it would happen it HJK win by exactly 1 goal. Naturally both team would prefer to qualify on regular time, but the long the score board would show a draw at aggregate results the less risks are taken.

I am expecting a home win, hopefully by 2 goals or more, but probably by 1, and as the HJK defense have not fully convinced yet this season I see both to score, so this is a 2-1 home win!
