Plymouth Argyle and their Premier League visitors Crystal Palace will both probably make plenty of changes to their teams for the Carabao Cup second round clash at Home Park.

The Pilgrims have a chance to reach the third round of the competition for the first time since 2007, when they were a Championship club (as today).

However, after painful back-to-back 2-1 defeats by Southampton and Birmingham City, Argyle's priority this week is undoubtedly the home league game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

So Schumacher is likely to use the Carabao Cup tie to get game time for members of his squad who have not been involved much in Championship action this season.

Palace are 11th in the Premier League with four points from three games following a 1-1 draw away to Brentford on Saturday.

Hodgson could give a debut to former Argyle loan goalkeeper Remi Matthews, who has been the back-up to Sam Johnstone so far this season.

Hodgson was asked after Palace's draw with Brentford how he would approach his team selection for the Home Park match.

He said: "I haven’t really given Plymouth anywhere near as much thought as I am about to give them now that this game is out of the way. It has all been Brentford, Brentford, Brentford, Brentford.
