Honka and MIFK lock horns in this Finnish Cup semi-final clash at Tapiolan Urheilupuisto, Espoo, late Wednesday evening Beijing time. It is clear that the betting market gives these new players - and Honka's potential too much emphasis.. The stakes are high here as winning this competition would bring the winner a place in the UEFA Conference League qualification next season.. I expect a pretty defensive, perhaps even anxious game here. The goal expectancy is lower than the bookies believe. The probability of under 2.5 goals to be scored is 61%. MIFK will almost certainly defend vwey hard here.. Their defense has not been as solid this season as in the past and they have allowed 29 goals in the Veikkausliiga. Even so, their number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is much lower – 25.34 to be precise. Their offense is lame so their best chance of winning is to rely on counter attacks, corner kicks etc.. They do have some fast players but cannot usually create many scoring chances through slow attacks with controlled passig.. Yes, they are in last place in the Veikkausliiga but are still not the worst team in this league by pure class!

Honka have scored just 19 goals in Veikkausliiga so far – only more than MIFK! This is the lowest number in this league. Even Haka, currently in 9th place, have scored 24 goals. Honka's number of expected goals (xG) is a little higher though.. Honka have defended well and have allowed just 16 goals in this league. With the expected lineups they deserve to be clear favorites here but the current odds of around 1.50-1.55 offered by the biggest bookies who accept the biggest bets on Honka to win during the 90 minutes of play are much too low! In my expert opinion Honka have an only 55% chance to qualify in regulation time. MIFK with the +1.5 goals handicap option is the smart bet here with a 72% chance of winning! Indeed, Honka have won just one of their latest seven games by a margin of more than one goal.. They will probably just aim at securing a one-goal-lead if they manage to score the 1-0 goal.. In their most recent game they beat MIFK away from home 1-0 but the match was pretty balanced. Honka had two more goal attempts (10-8) and one more shot on target.. Moreover, MIFK's Kotsopoulos missed a penalty in the 32nd minute and the hosts' Ngamba was sent off in the 56th minute.. Honka failed to impress me with the one man advantage.. Before losing to Honka MIFK fought well in Lahti and took a point through a 1-1 draw.. Yes, Lahti generated more in xG but MIFK's defense was well-organized and the fighting spirit was there – good indicators ahead of this big game!
