I am going against several other tipsters here, but in short I see Maccabi Haifa in better form, with better preparation for this season, and most importantly with a better joint team!

There have been a lot of transfers into Sheriff Tiraspol with decent players, but that is one part of the problem, The other main problem is that the Moldovan league is not competitive at all and Sheriff always come badly prepared for these bigger games, and the third one is the lack of matches in recent months, the team-building is not ready if it ever is at Tiraspol.

There are 20 arrivals at Sheriff, worth of some 6 million euros in total. The coach Bordin is also relatively new, he started in January this year. Most of the new arrivals are from South America, and while they are individually good players they are also mostly rather young, and inexperienced for tough European matches.

Compared to Sheriffs 2 games since their season ended Maccabi Haifa have already played 6 games. One benchmark we can use is the friendly vs Romanian side Cluj. Maccabi came out as 0-3 winners, whereas Sheriff faced another Romanian team Farul Constanta in the previous round, and lost by 1-3 away in Romania.

Maccabi is less changed, still have some 50 % more valuable squad available, some of their new signings might be featured here, and also they have a new coach, and a young and interesting one, 37 year old club man and a future prospect.

Last weekend Maccabi won the cup final vs Beitar by 3-1 with this lineup, there will be changes as the squad is big, but it will you give an idea what to expect. New signing Anan Khalaili who scored the winner from the bench might be easily be one of the starters.

It will be an interesting game with a lot of new faces eager to impress, but personally I see Maccabi' situation and match fitness so much better than I want to go with an away win.
