They then went on to sack Pasi Tuutti and replaced him with Jani Honkavaara, a coach who won the Veikkausliiga with KuPS back in 2019. He is a significantly better coach than Tuutti – both in terms of tactics and as a leader and motivator. Under Honkavaara KuPS have won 10 of the 11 games – many of these with a bigger margin than two goals – against much better teams than HIFK. This loss they suffered away from home on the 26th of May away from home against SJK, the third-best team in Veikkausliiga. The final score was 1-0. SJK were slightly better in this game but were also the favorites on the betting market - priced around 2.30 by the bookies to take all three points.

Yes, some squad rotation is expected from KuPS but all their players are much better than the HIFK players! HIFK play in Ykkönen, the second-highest tier of Finnish football. Teams in this league have significantly lower players’ salary budgets than any Veikkausliiga club. They even have the former Finnish national team player, Paulus Arajuuri, leading the defensive line. However, the difference between Veikkausliiga and Ykkönen is massive. In Ykkönen most players are not even professional footballers! HIFK will surely defend very hard here and this match is unlikely to be a crushing win for KuPS. Even so, KuPS has so much offensive talent that I expect KuPS to score at least twice here! Odds of around 1.80 are offered on the KuPS -1.5 goals option by the biggest bookies that offer the biggest betting limits. My sophisticated estimation on KuPS to win by a margin of at least two goals is 63%. HIFK, too, have improved after the difficult start to the season but their offense is still very lame. Even in Ykkönen they have been able to net the ball just 11 times! I would not be at all surprised to see them failing to score today. Indeed, KuPS have won four games in a row – without conceding a goal. HIFK have taken three draws in a row but were lucky to avoid defeat in their latest two games against Ekenäs and SJK Akatemia..
