Poland beat Albania 1-0 in their previous match, while they lost 1-3 to the Czech Republic in the previous one. After World Cup, Portuguese coach Santos took the team and he immediately starting building up the new defense line without Glik.

Since many years, Glik has been the most important central back for Poland, although he didn’t always play in big clubs. He is too old to continue and Santos must find other solutions. Today it might be the first time Santos tries 3 central backs, with Kiwior, Bednarek and Wieteska.

Germany have not played any European Championship qualifiers as they are automatically qualified as the host nation. Instead, there have been three practice matches which have ended with a win against Peru (2-0), a loss against Belgium (2-3) and this week a draw against Ukraine (3-3).

I don’t see Flick pressing his players to give their best in these games. Germany are just trying to give more chances to more players. Today they aren’t playing at home, no big expectation either.
