Two rounds till the end of the season in La Liga.

GETAFE - OSASUNA

Getafe is fighting to avoid relegation. They are with 38 points, same points as Valladolid (relegation), Cadiz; one below Almeria; and two below Valencia and Celta. Many teams involved in that fight, with several games between them, and Getafe will close the season playing against Valladolid, a game which surely will decide who will be relegated between both of them.

Their season has been terrible. Changed the coach some weeks ago taking Bordalas in charge and the team improved a lot in their competitive spirit, but are lacking quality. Their plan is very simple: make a lot of faults, intensity, long balls to the strikers, and try to score in some action. They use to have only 30-40% possession and are not controlling any game.

This plan is very dangerous because it is a plan made for a draw, unless they find some lucky goal in a set piece as did against Betis (0:1) in the last round. But against bottom Elche they weren’t able to win the match and drew 1:1 due to the lack of ideas/B plan.

Furthermore, for this match they will miss their best player due to an injury: Enes Unal, who scored 14 goals so far (Getafe scored 32 in total). Other two starters are out: midfielders Aleña and Arambarri.

On the other hand, Osasuna had a fantastic season. Managed to play the Cup Final (playing very well) and they have real chances for Europe. Are in Conference League position, but with the same points as Athletic and just one above Girona, who will be their rival in the last round.

Osasuna is a very strong and competitive team, able to equalize Getafe’s intensity. Are in great form and are a very difficult team to beat. This season, only this teams managed to beat them:

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Betis, Real Sociedad, Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia and Getafe.

All of them top teams who ended above them except Rayo, Valencia and Getafe: Rayo won 2:1 at home luckily, when they were in great form and in the TOP7. Valencia beat them when they were in much better form too and with Osasuna missing a penalty, receiving a red card… And Getafe the same: a very unlucky defeat with Osasuna receiving an early red card and missing many chances.

But against relegation mid-table teams Osasuna use to be very competitive and achieve good results.

So both teams have a lot of motivation. For Osasuna to achieve the Conference League position would be an historical success, following the Cup final, so the team is very motivated. They have quality enough to at least avoid the defeat here, especially against a team like Getafe who will be without their best player, lot of nerves and maybe happy with a draw, because surely the safe zone will be in 41-42 points (remember they have 38 points now and the last round against relegation rival Valladolid).

CADIZ - CELTA

Cadiz has 38 points, same as relegation zone, but has a great last round - will face bottom Elche. A draw here + a victory against Elche most probably will be enough to avoid relegation.

They are playing well, and are a team who managed very well this relegation situations, although they are lacking quality in the squad. They have one of the worst squads in La Liga, and to make things worse, they have been dealing with many injuries for a long time. This is a problem for a difficult week like this one, with 3 games in 7 days.

For this match they will miss: Chust, Fali, Zaldua, Garrido, Ocampo, Alex Fernadez, Ramos and Cala. Three of them are starters.

As we have seen in their recent games, the team is managing the games thinking on their next ones too. For example, made awful performances and many rotations against Atletico (5:1) to be at 100% against Mallorca. And did the same in their last game against Villarreal (2:0) to be at 100% in this last two rounds. This makes me think that surely are also thinking on the game against Elche in the last round, so surely a draw won’t be a bad result for them here. Must remember also that many teams in the relegation zone will play between each other.

On the other hand, Celta is in trouble. They have 40 points and will finish the season against Barcelona. So they would need one point here to avoid problems, because the relegation is in 38 points now with many teams involved. They are in terrible form, 4 defeats and one draw in their last 5 games, terrible performances… But I believe in this team.

They have a lot of quality to be in the TOP10 team. Just lately they have been playing terribly, but the draw against Girona in the last round gave them motivation and boosted their morale. But in normal circumstances, they are far superior to Cadiz, as shown in the previous game where beat them easily (3:0)

Guests have much more quality here in my opinion. While for the hosts their next game is a great chance to get the three points and here will have the target just to avoid the defeat, for Celta the next game will be a nightmare and achieving a point here is crucial to avoid relegation. I believe that both teams would be happy with the draw in this match.
