Finnish 2nd highest tier Ykkönen has so far produced rather unpredictable results, and it leads to some betting market confusion as there is very little real data out there unless you actually watch the games and know the players.

The picks here are mostly based on my power rankings, they have nothing to do with the actual results so far, and there is not much reason to talk about an absentee or two in the big picture. The actual table below:

MP top the table, which is a huge surprise, and also undeserved one. The best performers so fr have been Gnistan and EIF.

The biggest - and almost only promotion candidates before the season were HIFK, TPS and Jaro. The relegation candidates are the promoted teams JJK, KäPa and SalPa, and the poor MP who lead the table!

JäPS come from a small town with limited resources, they had a good preseason and won the Ykkönen cup, but in the league competition they have only won 2 of their 6 games,, and scored only 6 goals. Scoring in general is a key issue at most clubs, if there are good strikers somewhere they are quickly bought by bigger clubs,

Jaro have started poorly, but last round v KPV there was improvement, and as it was a big derby it has a massive psykological motivating effect.

EIF as mentioned have been the most reliable team so far, the question in the long run is the width of the player material but the starting eleven is excellent for this level.

JJK have played with a fresh look, but they are young and inexperienced, and soon they will also need points to stay focused. It is not a place to constantly play well but lose.

TPS are the biggest club in this league and do not belong here at all, there are ex-international stars like Kasper Hämäläinen, but they are a failure. This is even a derby, against a recently promoted opponents whose players mostly come from lower leagues. Unless TPS win this one the coach needs to go, immediately.
