Honka VS KTP

Honka welcome visitors from the city of Kotka, for this Finnish Veikkausliiga clash at Tapiolan Urheilupuisto in Espoo late Friday evening Beijing time. Inter Turku host IFK Mariehamn for this Finnish Veikkausliiga battle at Veritas Stadion Monday evening Beijing time. This is the first tier of my home country's football but the level is somewhat low by European standards. It has, however, improved during the last 10 or so years! As a Finnish professional football bettor I know this league and all the teams very well - the bookmakers, on the other hand, pretty often seem to make some mistakes with their odds in Veikkausliiga and in Ykkönen, the second-tier. I watch every single Veikkausliiga game– many games live at the stadium - like today in Tapiola! Honka have grabbed 12 points and currently occupy the 4th place in the standings in this league with a total of 12 clubs.. This is also their place in my power rating that reflects the teams' pure class. However, the difference between Honka and SJK (3rd place) is minimal. Honka have netted the ball eight times in Veikkausliiga so far this season. However, in terms of expected goals they would have deserved 11.45 goals. They have had solid defense and have allowed seven goals but the number of expected goals allowed (xGA) is smaller. It is true that they have not fully met the expectations so far but we must not forget that they lost their key striker, Agon Sadiku, right before the season kicked off. They did buy a replacement but it has taken time to improve.. However, they are still not at the same level as last season – and quite possibly never will.. They were even fighting for the championship late into last season but ended up in third place..

Honka also lost a key midfielder a while ago (injury) but the situation in the midfield is better now.. Honka played well on Monday away from home against AC Oulu winning 3-1. Oulu are a pretty good team and at the time of kick off they were slim favorites on the betting market.. Before this Honka lost two games and did not impress me. In fact, this pick is mainly against KTP who are among the worst teams in Veikkausliiga and were promoted from Ykkönen for this season. They can play pretty well at home but are usually pretty useless on the road.. Their defense has looked shaky in almost all games this season.  They cannot match Honka in any area of the game!  Furthermore, they have just six points to their account and have won just once in this league this season – this win came at home against a lowly team, IFK Mariehamn. On Monday they did not have much of a chance at home against SJK and lost 0-2. The visitors fully deserved the win after recording more shots on target, goal attempts and generating much more in xG – 1.76-0.54 to be precise. Honka do not have a big number of fans in Tapiola but have a very loud and enthusiastic (by Finnish standards) group of mainly young fans  who create a good atmosphere at the stadium!
