KTP welcome visitors from the capital of Finland for this Finnish Veikkausliiga battle at Arto Tolsa Areena in Kotka late Tuesday evening Beijing time. Many Veikkausliiga teams have a pretty competitive starting eleven + 2-4 good substitutes but for some teams missing even one, not to mention more players can affect a lot! KTP are missing some players here and this does hurt their chances. However, HJK have a very big number of key players out in this match. Yes, they have a very deep squad with a large number of quality players by Veikkausliiga standards but there is a limit of absences even HJK can handle without the level of football significantly dropping.. If they are able to take the pitch they will not be able to play for more than 45 minutes – or be at their best.. Striker Riku Riski, who suffered from a long term injury last season - has played less than 100 minutes of football during the past year and might play 10-15 minutes here but will not be able to contribute to HJK's offense that much today. Even so, HJK are clear favorites here but the betting market overestimates the reigning champions of Finland here – especially in the handicap betting! The obvious choice for a smart bettor here is KTP +1.5 goals with a big chance of winning. HJK do not usually win by a margin of more than one goal away from home – even against pretty lowly teams. The last time they won by at least two-goal-margin was last August against Haka. Their coach, Tomi Koskela, has often said publicly that on the road their only focus is to take all three points and not entertain the crowd going for more goals – possibly risking a lead one-goal- ead.

HJK had many absences last Friday in Kuopio against KuPS and suffered their first defeat in Veikkausliiga this season - 1-2. Of course KuPS are a much better team than KTP but there is no denying the fact that HJK were bad in this match. Especially missing key defenders did hurt them massively. A midfielder was forced to play as a defender etc..HJK generated just 0.69 in expected goals (xG) - KuPS' number was 1.72. The hosts also recorded more shots on and off goal as well as goal attempts (11-7). Before this HJK took a comfortable win at home over Haka 2-0 mainly thanks to the fine performance in the first half. However, I want to mention that Haka played below their normal level in this game. Before this HJK were disappointing and it was a 1-1 draw at home against AC Oulu as massive favorites, priced around 1.45-1.50 to win by the bookies. AC Oulu had 52% ball possession and many more scoring attempts (11-5) and shots off goal. HJK did record more shots on goal (3-2) and overall the match was a surprisingly balanced one! The xG numbers were almost equal.

KTP, a newly promoted team, have started the season pretty well – especially at home. They have a massive number of new players for this season and are expected to improve as the season progresses.  The betting market has undervalued them in many games - and it's the same situation here. At their stadium they have lost just one game – in the opening round against AC Oulu 0-2 despite recording more goal attempts, shots on and off goal, attacks and dangerous attacks. They also forced KuPS, a top-3 three team in this league to a goalless draw in the second round.
