I'm expecting a home win here.

Villarreal is a team with a lot of quality and a deep squad. They made some rotations in the midweek game against Osasuna and won easily 1-3, and the team is full of confidence.

After a bad start of the season, they achieved great results lately (the only team in La Liga unbeaten in the last 10 games). Their weak point is the irregularity, they suffer a lot against small teams where they know that they are better, making some mistakes in defence due to lack of concentration. But against strong sides or big teams they play well, showing their best level.

And here I’m expecting this. Athletic is a difficult rival but if Villarreal plays at 100% should win easily. I have big hopes for this team this season: great coach, players, chemistry, motivation and ambition.

On the other hand Athletic Bilbao isn’t as good as the results show. They achieved many lucky results, like the last one for example against Huesca where they won 2-0 scoring the goals at 87’ from penalty and 92’ from corner.

The fans are angry with the coach, as he is very defensive and players aren’t showing their best level. Their plan as visitors is always the same: play for the draw, without any ambition. Is a very defensive team, without plan B, a weak attack and weaker defense than previous seasons. Goalkeeper is at a bad level, while their defence isn’t trustable.

Furthermore, they have a short squad and I think will be tired for this match, as they did not make any rotation in previous fixtures. They are the second team of La Liga with more defeats so far: 7 in 14 games.

As example of the lack of ambition in his team for this season and that they don't have any target, just avoid relegation.

The only risk here is the draw, something that will be the main target of Athletic. But Villarreal has a lot of quality upfront, alternatives on the bench and I think they will be motivated and concentrated enough today. Hosts will have the ball, possession and domination of this match, and this should be enough for the victory taking into account that Villarreal has also hee quality and the best team here.
