Independiente del Valle will play against Liverpool of Uruguay, for Round 2 of group E of the Copa Libertadores.

The game will be played on the pitch of the Banco Guayaquil stadium this Tuesday.

It has special significance for Independiente del Valle because it’s the first match of Libertadores at their new stadium. They used to play in other stadiums in Quito because their own stadium wasn’t qualified, but the new stadium received the license.

Independiente del Valle are the current champion of Copa Sudamericana and Recopa. They are much stronger than Liverpool. Liverpool had a great season last year in the domestic league in Uruguay, but they aren’t accustomed to international scenarios. And another issue is that Uruguayan teams are normally very weak visiting stadiums in altitude.
